NOTES

GAUGE: 23 stitches & 34 rows = 4 inches; I had to go up three needle sizes to get a swatch near gauge, I erred the side of creating an oversized shawl.

CONSTRUCTION: This shawl is constructed from side-to-side. Due to the lace yarn and large needles, any mistakes are very noticeable.

Final Thoughts

I only added fringe on one side of the shawl.
This is now my most worn shawl. It is cozy, very large, and warm. The neutral color goes with almost every outfit.
Next time:
- I would omit the fringe - for variety sake.
- I would consider knitting in lace weight Alpaca (update: yarn purchased for 2nd Virevolte shawl, Knit Picks, Alpaca Cloud, Jane, 2 skeins).

NOTES

This shawl is a gift for a favorite aunt. It was a breeze to knit.

Final Thoughts

The one modification that I made was that I kept the color scheme the same throughout, and I did not switch the MC and CC as written in the pattern.

This my third Zilver, and I’m still not tired of this pattern. It always blocks out well.

I love this project. There is something therapeutic and satisfying about using up some handspun yarn. The fiber is purple dyed 100% Merino roving.

NOTES

Classic, timeless pattern. Handspun friendly.

I increased the number of times that I completed the ridge pattern to 6; ended on a ridge pattern section versus stockinette section; knit 1 round & then cast-off; blocked top of shawl and corners more aggressively.

UPDATE 10/2020: This is my most worn shawl - the softness of the yarn, paired with the pattern are unbelievable. I need to make another. Surprisingly, no pilling even though it’s super soft single ply yarn.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Definitely will make again with the same modifications above.
Good pattern for handspun yarn.

Speckled "Agatha Shawl"

NOTES

I was a little confused at first, as I thought that this was a colorwork project. Really, though, the pattern is the result of a slipped stitch pattern.

My (A) color was dark gray and my (B) color was light. I used speckled yarn which caused the pattern to look more variegated. After some doubts, I decided I liked the effect. The bind-off method was challenging at first, but I eventually knit the bind-off using the (A) color in my left hand (Continental) and with the (B) color in my right hand (English).

UPDATE 10/2020: I love the design, but I don’t wear it as frequently. I like my shawls to be longer, so that they can wrap around my neck and stay on better.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I liked the pattern, but I wish the finished shawl were longer. I would knit again, but I would keep going with repeats to extend the length.
